Why does my battery display so many recharges? Is it used?

No. Our batteries are, of course, all brand new. The display of the charging cycle, or how often the battery has been brought from 0 to 100% capacity, does not come from the battery itself.

iBackupBot and similar programs can measure the number of battery recharges. They are reading a value that is stored on a chip alongside the battery.

This is the chip which "records" a particular amount of charge cycles. These mini memory modules are inserted into our fresh batteries during the manufacturing process. The batteries themselves still haven't experienced any charge cycles.

If you want to keep track of your recharges over the course of time, simply subtract the measured value at the beginning from the number of cycles that is subsequently measured.
